What is a “critical friend?” you may be asking yourself, well, I hope we all have one because a CF is someone who tells you what you’re doing well, what you can do differently and poses questions you need to hear so that push your product or performance to the next level. We can always be better than we were yesterday.
A CF isn’t mean, doesn’t criticize; but critiques.
If you are interested in being a Critical Friend to my Southwest High School United States and World History students and their teacher – ME, just request to join my blog and I will add you. You may be able to devote 10 minutes to 10 hours to 10 days — whatever you have, we appreciate your desire to improve the lives of our future leaders. My current students will be running the world when I retire and I really want them to be as capable and prepared as possible!
During the year, students will be investigating, researching and creating. Our culminating project will be a newscast where stories from the past will be reported and aligned with current events.
By using inquiry-based learning students will discover the past, they will write a script for their newscasts and will create a video project where they will simulate a newscast (authentic learning) that they will present to audience of professionals from the International Community, academicians and of course, professionals and parents from our community here in the Imperial Valley.
Please join us to push our students to the highest level of learning and excellence.
All best, Haydee Rodriguez – NBCT
